Daffest 2013 in Saranac Lake

After packing away the skis, making mud pies through the spring season it is time to celebrate summer with Saranac Lake's Daffest.  In addition to all the activities below, don't forget to just take some time to explore all the parks around Saranac Lake and see the beautiful daffodils! Enjoy!

April 26 
1 pm Historic Tour through Riverside Park to Bartok Cabin ($5)
5:30 pm - 8 pm. Harriestown Hall.: Meet the soapbox derby contestants, taste free samples and vote on the pastry competition

April 27 
10 am - 3 pm: Festival of Blooms Riverside Park, 
Paul Smiths College baking students bring baked goods for sale and to sample
• Merrilooms the clown will be on hand for face painting and balloon animals.
• Blue Line Sports Shop will be holding fly and reel fishing demos and clinic.
• Adirondack Lakes and Trails will be holding kayak, canoe demos and clinic.

11 am:  Daffest Derby Day at the George LaPan Highway in Saranac Lake, Four age classes, uniquely designed soap box derby cars will take to the track!  Call Bob Bevilacqua (race founder and organizer) at Car Cuzzi Car Care Center 891-8109
2-6 pm Wine tasting at Nonna Fina on River St. across the street from the boat launch. 10 Wines for $10 with food parings available. 


May 2
1-3 pm Thursday Wigmore Garden Tour
Transportation provided and will leave from Riverside Park at 1 pm. Limited to 30 people so registration is recommended. Rain date is Friday May 3rd  1pm
See 
over 5000 daffodil bulbs planted surrounded by thousands of other flower variety at Wigmore Gardens on the shores of Oseetah Lake. 
7 pm Jazz at the Downhill Grill with "Le Groove" 
LeGroove will perform jazz, blues & swing in the night while you swing and enjoy your favorite meal and cocktail! 

May 4 
8 am Saranac Lake Chamber's 5K Zoom in Bloom at the Adirondack Carousel on the corner of Bloomingdale and Depot St.
$20 entry fee will allow you to compete for bragging rights and enjoy a 5K run or walk through our beautiful Historic district which includes Park Ave, the AMA Campus, Old Military Rd., Baker St, the Train Depot all rich in history and architecture then it's back to the Adirondack Carousel.
$5 Children's Activities: enjoy riding the Carouselm clown, playing in the play park and more
11 am ($5)  Historic Tour of Pine Ridge Cemetery with 
Bob Seidenstein; Author of weekly newspaper feature" The Inside Dope"The tour will start from the Pine St. Entrance at the Vault.
1 pm Ampersand Bay Resort Host Mary Gach will tour you around this 28 acre property located on the shores of Ampersand Bay on Lower Saranac Lake. Limited to 30 people so registration is recommended! 
4 pm Kentucky Derby Hat Contest at Captain Cook's
