Easy Adirondack Hikes: Glory on the summit of Coney Mountain (Tupper Lake Triad)

Summit of Coney Mt, Tupper Lake Our latest family challenge is to complete the Tupper Lake(TL) Triad . We have hiked Coney Mountain, Goodman Mountain and Mt Arab in the past, but in order to receive a climbing number, badge and decal ($5) we need to climb all three mountains after the Triad Challenge December 2015 opening date. Coney Mountain has always been a family favorite, especially when we lived closer to Tupper Lake. It’s been a few years since my daughter has hiked Coney. So many years in fact, there is a different trail leading to the summit. There is a designated parking area, but we choose to join the few roadside cars and park along Rt. 30. We walk up the gravel path to the register and meet a group signing out. They enthusiastically share their experience of walking along the open crest. SARANAC LAKE , NY – A new guidebook outlining family activities in the Adirondack Park will be released in July. “Adirondack Family Time: Tri-Lakes & High Peaks Regions,” by Diane Chase, is a comprehensive guide to over 300 activities. The first of four proposed books published by Hungry Bear Publishing in Saranac Lake, the Tri-Lakes/High Peaks edition targets four seasons of family activities for Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Jay, Upper Jay, Keene, Keene Valley and Wilmington with a foreword by acclaimed author Edward Kanze. Based on Chase’s Adirondack Daily Enterprise weekly “Family Time” column and Adirondack Family Time blog, “Adirondack Family Time: Tri-Lakes & High Peaks Regions” is a must-have guide for anyone wishing to discover ideas on how to entertain family, friends and visitors while in the Adirondack Park. Adirondack Fun: Ski at Mt Pisgah with U.S. Ski Team

The Saranac Lake Ski Club is hosting a fun ski event with U.S. Ski Team members at Mt Pisgah on Friday March 19th from 4-6 pm. Ted Ligety, Andrew Weibrecht (not skiing) and a number of other Olympians are planning on being at Pisgah from 4-5:30 training with racers. An autograph session will occur from 5:30 to 6 in the lodge. $15 to ski at Mt Pisgah includes the lift ticket. Additional donations are also welcome. If you would like to donate but can't be present please send donation to Friends of Mt Pisgah, DBA Saranac Lake Ski Club, PO Box 978, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Friends of Mt Pisgah is a 501c3 corporation. Donations are tax deductable. Twenty years ago volunteers raised money and installed snow making. Ten years ago volunteers raised the money and built a new base lodge and now the 1950's T-Bar is beyond repair. This will be a unique opportunity to ski and meet our U.S. Ski Team members.
