FREE Adirondack Fire Tower Program at the Adirondack History Museum

Poke-O-Moonshine Fire Tower The Adirondack (ADK) History Museum is offering a free Adirondack Fire Tower Program on August 12 from 9 am – 3 pm starting at the Elizabethtown museum home base. The daylong session will start with an educational discussion with Fire Tower expert David Thomas-Train. According to Adirondack History Museum Director Aurora McCaffrey this is the second time this summer that this free program has been offered to families with children in 4 th to 8 th grades. “We have held this program in 2013 and a shorter program in 2014,” says McCaffrey. “This summer we did a similar educational day and hike in July. We meet at the museum and the class will visit the whole museum. David Thomas-Train will show the new fire tower exhibit and the light-up Essex County map of all the restored fire towers. Adirondack Museums: Adirondack History Center in Elizabethtown

The Adirondack History Center Museum in Elizabethtown is open for the season.  2011 Admission: Adults $5.00, Seniors $4.00, Students $2.00,  6 and under are free. One  highlight of the visit is to climb to the top of the adjacent fire tower. This particular steel tower was reconstructed from two different fire towers. At the top we can see all around the village of Elizabethtown and surrounding mountains.

Adirondack Museum: Battle of Plattsburgh

So it's not a real museum in the sense that you go inside but rather a living experience with adventures at every corner type of museum. This is the closing weekend of two weeks worth of events. For the price of a $10 button the Battle of Plattsburgh Society will have a host of events continuing through Sunday. If that isn't the museum of your choice New York Heritage Weekend will get you free admission to the Adirondack History Center Museum in Elizabethtown and Fort Ticonderoga this weekend as well as other museums all around New York State.
