40th Anniversary Celebration

• All balloon flights are weather permitting.
• Open to the public - FREE of charge
• Donations will be accepted for parkiing, Premiere • VIP parking is available for a fee.
• No Dogs!
Thursday, September 20th - Crandall Park - City of Glens Falls
  • 4:30-6:30pm: Music and Band Performance
  • 5:00pm: Opening Ceremonies –Acknowledgement of 40th Anniversary
  • 5:15pm: Launch of special shape “Birthday Cake” balloon followed by launch of 20 balloons
  • 6:00-9:30: City of Glens Falls Block Party featuring Walk-about balloon, balloon baskets on display, car show, kid’s activities and FIREWORKS!
Friday, September 21st - Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport - Queensbury
  • 3:00pm: Gates Open, Craft Fair and Food Vendors open for business
  • 5:00pm: Balloon Launch – 80+ balloons including special shapes
Friday, September 21st - Battlefield Park - Lake George Village
  • 8:00pm: Moonglow at the lake, followed by fireworks. Bring your flashlight!
Saturday, September 22nd  - Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport - Queensbury
  • 5:00am - 11:00am: "Big Balloon Breakfast" - Airport Hanger
  • 6:00am - 7:00pm: Food vendors open for business, Craft Fair with 30+ vendors, Kids activities, including bounce houses, rock climbing wall, aircraft static display
  • 6:30am: Flight of 100 Balloons, including more than 10 special shapes
  • 2:00pm - 5:00pm: Performance by Jonathan Newell band
  • 5:00pm: Flight of 100 Balloons, including more than 10 special shapes
  • 8:00pm: "40 for 40" Moonglow, up to 40 baloons illuminate the night. Bring your flashlight!
Sunday, September 23rd -  Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport - Queensbury
  • 5:00am - 11:00am: "Big Balloon Breakfast" - Airport Hanger
  • 6:00am - 12:00pm: Food vendors open for business, Craft Fair with 30+ vendors, Kids activities, including bounce houses, rock climbing wall, aircraft display
  • 6:30am: "Walter's Mass Ascension" simulaneous Flight of 100 Balloons, including 10+ special shapes
  • 8:00am: Catholic Mass in the Entertainment tent
  • 9:00am: Protestant Sunday Service in the Entertainment tent
Sunday, September 23rd Crandall Park - Glens Falls
  • 2:00pm - 5:00pm: DJ with Music
  • 5:00pm: Launch of 20+ Balloons

Enjoy these simple plans for this simple bench that provides a perfect place to observe the natural world.  C onsidered by many as the father of wildlife management and of the United States’ wilderness system, Aldo Leopold was a conservationist, forester, philosopher, educator, writer, and outdoor enthusiast . “That land is a community is the basic concept off ecology, but that land is to be loved and respected is an extension of ethics.” Though his book, The Sand County Almanac is a must read, it may be something that can wait for anyone with very young children. For everyone else, it's a wonderful example of nature writing that is a timeless connection to the land. My family first made our first  "Leopold Bench" as a group effort at the Aldo celebration at the A dirondack Interpretive Center in Newcomb, NY. It remains one our most comfortable outdoor benches. Adirondack Treats: Make Your Own Mirror Lake Inn Chocolate Chip Cookies (recipe)

Mirror Lake Inn Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe Back by popular demand! My favorite cookie recipe!    *reprinted with permission Mirror Lake Inn Chocolate Chip Cookies , Lake Placid, N.Y. Mix until light and fluffy 2 cups butter 2 cups sugar 1 cup brown sugar Blend and add to sugar mixture:  4 eggs Add: 4 tsp. vanilla 4 cups flour 3 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking soda 4 cups chocolate chips 2 cups broken walnuts (I omit) Drop onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 8 minutes. Yields 4 dozen. Tip: I whip up a batch and keep the dough in the refrigerator and bake a few cookies at a time! Enjoy! *if you stay at the Inn you get complimentary afternoon tea and chocolate chip cookies daily. If not, you can make your own and pretend!
