Adirondack Fun: Free Pancake Breakfast!
Tonight the Lake Placid Elementary School is holding a benefit to raise funds for a new natural playground, Paw Print Park, from 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at the school’s cafeteria. The Italian-styled dinner ($8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for children) is from a variety of local restaurants. If you are just interested in taking a break from cooking you can even get it to go by calling 637-2534, but that option is only available until 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday North Country School (NCS) is holding their annual Free Community Pancake Breakfast from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at their school on Cascade Road outside of Lake Placid. Walk-ins are welcome but large parties are asked to call 523-9329 so the kitchen can be prepared. After feasting on homemade pancakes and local syrup from their own facility and South Meadow Farm, enjoy tours of the chicks, lambs, piglets and resident llama.
Children will be able to participate in crafts and face painting activities or peruse the used book sale. The greenhouse will be available for tour to show how NCS tries to provide as much of its own produce as possible. Don’t forget to ask about the new “green” resident housing building that will be open to students in the fall. North Country School offers a variety of free community events that can be found on their website, www.nct.org.
So these two events can be an early kickoff to your Mother’s Day celebration but at the very least will be a brief reprieve from doing the dishes.

We were able to go on a tour of the new green resident's building. I hope you did too. Not that we could ever go that route for our own house but it was wonderful to get ideas. My daughter's favorite part was being able to use the slide instead of the stairs. My son was fascinated but the fact there was a climbing wall inside.
