Long Lake NY Kid-Friendly Summer Activities

The Town of Long Lake has a summer full of fun for children. From SUP experiences to hiking excursions, there are events to make children of all ages appreciate all that Long Lake has to offer. 

Stand Up Paddle Boarding Experience
The Town of Long Lake is sponsoring free Paddling Boarding at Raquette River Outfitters this summer on July 16th and 24th.  Stand up paddle boarding has grown in popularity as a new form to experience the lake.   Preregistration is required.  Spots are limited to residents, second home-owners or visitors staying overnight in either Long Lake or Raquette Lake.  Sign up early by calling 518-624-3077.  Life jackets and instruction generously provided by Raquette River Outfitters! Ages 10 and up.  

Feelin’ Long Lakey Kids Day
On July 22, The Town of Long Lake is hosting an exciting new event for kids.  From 12pm-4pm a giant inflatable obstacle course will be available for exploration, free of charge.  A special tie dye workshop will be held from 1-2pm.  Shirts will be sold for $5, but children are encouraged to bring their own white shirts, shorts, and other items to dye for free!

At 3pm professional Mountain Biker Chris Clark will perform a stunt program, complete with jumps, tricks, ramps, and obstacles.  Clark has competed in over 50 National Mountain Bike Events and the World Championships in Spain.  There is no charge for this event!


Kids’ Art Classes Offered in Long Lake
The Town of Long Lake is sponsoring Kids’ Art Classes this summer.  Kids are invited to learn painting, drawing, and art skills using professional materials with instruction provided by Cindy Black.  Classes will be offered July 23rd, August 6th, and August 20th from 1:30-3:30pm.  Classes are held in the fresh air of the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion, surrounded by nature.  Cost is $5 per class.  Sign up for one or more by calling 518-624-3077.  Preregistration required. 

Free Decoupage Art Class
Kids of all ages are encourage to attended a special art class offered by the Town of Long Lake to make their very own decoupage box, frame, or notebook to hold Long Lake memories! This class is free and no preregistration is required.  Drop by the Geiger Arena on July 28th at 6pm to make a special Long Lake souvenir.  Call 518-624-3077 with questions. 

Youth Trips with the Trailblazers

Hamilton County Trailblazers and the Town of Long Lake present another round of adventure trips this summer.  Four exciting trips for children in grade four and above have been planned for July 15th and 29th and also August 12th and 26th.  Space is limited to 10 kids per adventure, so be sure to sign up early!

On July 15, the group will head to North Hudson.  The day will involve enjoying the ropes course.  Transportation is provided by Hamilton County and the cost of the ropes course is paid for by the Town of Long Lake.  On July 29th, don’t miss the opportunity for your child to go white water rafting! Transportation is provided by Hamilton County and the cost of rafting is paid for by the Town of Long Lake.  Then, on August 12th an exciting canoe trip on Blue Mountain Lake, followed by a hike of Castle Rock is scheduled.  Finally, the last Trailblazer trip of the summer is slated for August 26th.  This adventure takes kids for a day of horseback riding.  Again, transportation and cost is covered by the Town of Long Lake and Hamilton County Trailblazers.
