Arts Trails in Sacandaga Valley August 8-9, 2015

The Sacandaga Valley Arts Network (SVAN)
Arts Trails takes place August 8-9, 2015
The Great Sacandaga Lake in Fulton and Saratoga Counties
For the second year the Sacandaga Valley Arts Network (SVAN) is hosting a driving tour of Artists' studios and galleries around the Sacandaga watershed region of New York.

The tour of over 30 artists is being conducted between 10 am - 5 pm on August 8-9 (Saturday and Sunday) throughout the towns of Northville, Edinburg, Vail Mills, Gloversville, Porters Corners, Benson, Bleecker and Caroga Lake (Town of Johnstown).

According to Art Trails Organizer Constance Dodge this weekend artist tour is just a portion of what SVAN provides for the Sacandaga Valley. Since 1997 SVAN has provided craft and fine art workshops, performing arts programs, musical events and visual arts programing to the surrounding region.

"I think a lot of people aren't aware of the Sacandaga Valley Arts Network," says Dodge. "Back in 1997, I was one of ten people recognizing the need for an art group. We forged ahead and now we have the use of an arts center in Northville. The rest is history. The SVAN Art Trails is to acquaint visitors and locals to all that SVAN provides. There is a lot of talent in this area."

Brochures are available online and distributed in eight counties including Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Warren.

"There certainly is a variety of working artists this weekend," says Dodge. "These self-guided tours provide an incredible opportunity for people to see artists at work. There will be some demonstrations at the studios, but it will depend on the situation. There is such a variety from weaving to woodwork and glasswork to photography."
