Adirondack Calendar of Events: What to do September 2-5, 2011

By Diane Chase, author of the Adirondack Family Activities™ guidebook series. her first book Adirondack Family Time High Peaks/Tri-Lakes: Your Four-Season Guide to over 300 activities, $17.95 available online and bookstore

The Adirondack Weekend Highlights for September 2-5, 2011. Tropical Storm Irene may have taken her toll around the High Peaks, Catskills and other areas of the Adirondacks. As resilient as the Adirondack Mountains are so are the people that live, work and play here. Businesses are open, events and activities are proceeding as planned.

Have a great weekend from the Adirondack Park! There are a variety of activities and events happening around the Adirondack region this weekend that are great family fun! In the Adirondack High Peaks, try the Farm 2 Fork Festival or HoboFest in Saranac lake. In the southern Adirondacks and Lake George area stop by The Strand Theatre to see a showing of Nuremberg. Around Lake Champlain it is the start of the commemoration of the Battle of PlattsburghThe Central Adirondacks features Duck Derby and Falling Leaves Craft Show. Enjoy your weekend in the Adirondack Park!

If you heard the news that the Eastern Adirondack High Peaks are closed and you are "bagging" High Peaks use this opportunity to cross the Seward Range or Whiteface Mountain and Esther off your list. Those and plenty of other hiking trails are open this weekend.
