Kid friendly events for November 26-28,2010


Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t just sit and eat that late night turkey sandwich, get outside and have some family fun. There are walks and rambles, or do something different in the Adirondacks like take the kids bowling.


Tri-Lakes and Beyond - including Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, Malone, Paul Smiths, Bloomingdale, Gabriels, Wilmington, Jay, Upper Jay, Keene, Keene Valley


Western Adirondack Family Time – including Cranberry Lake, Newcomb, Thendara , Raquette Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Long Lake, Old Forge, Northville, Caroga Lake, Star Lake, Croghan and Inlet


Southern Adirondack Family Time – including, Schroon Lake, North Creek, Indian Lake, Whitehall and Lake George, Caroga Lake, Mayfield, Lake Luzerne, Bolton Landing, Gloversville, Warrensburg, Hague


Champlain Valley Family Time – including Ausable Forks, Ticonderoga, Crown Point, Westport, Port Henry, Elizabethtown and Keeseville, Wadams, Essex and Plattsburgh




Tri Lakes and Beyond Adirondack Family Time

Whiteface Mt opens for the season Friday, November 26th. Ski on Excelsior, Summit Express, Upper Valley, Lower Valley and Fox with a 12"- 24" base. Lift ticket prices, opening day through Friday, December 3rd will be $47 for adults, $37 for teens and seniors and $24 for juniors. The beginner terrain will not be available until Saturday, November 27

All day: Wild Center Family Friday with crafts for kids, free gift wrapping and nature walks with the price of admission
3:30 p.m. The Upper Jay Post Office will show a FREE Holiday film


Saturday - 11/27/10
9:00 a.m. 6:00 pm. FREE cider and donuts at the Tupper Lake Chamber as the annual Holiday Stroll
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Lake Placid Farmers’ Market at Lake Placid Center for the Arts
10:00 a.m. Holiday film at the Upper Jay Post Office
6:00 p.m. High Peaks Guide House in Lake Placid will host a FREE movie showing of “Deeper (Snowboarding) at 2739 Main Street
8:00 p.m. Smuckers Stars on Ice at the Lake Placid Olympic Center


Sunday - 11/28/10
3:00 p.m. FREE advent musical presentation at the Harrieststown Town Hall in Saranac Lake
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Fried Haddock Dinner at the AMVETS Post No. 8, Malone, $7/adult, $3.50/Child


Western Adirondack Family Time
The Festival of Wreaths continues at the Old Forge Art Center through the 26th. Area groups and community members compete and bid on a variety of wreaths. Free to view.
All weekend: Santa Letter Drop Box at the Inlet Post Office


Friday - 11/26/10

All day: FREE Adirondack Christmas on Main Street in Inlet and Old Forge, horse drawn wagon rides, Santa's Village with live Reindeer, light parade, caroling. Santa will be at tree lightings tonight.

2:00 p.m. Reindeer Run starts at Goodsell Museum he run will go north on Main Street to the Point Park. Antlers will be provided! After the race at 2pm, enjoy a holiday matinee at The Strand Theatre and runners wearing antlers will receive a free small popcorn with free refills and half-price matinee admission.
