Adirondack Events: Memorial Weekend 2010

"We should guard their graves with sacred vigilance. All that the consecrated wealth and taste of the nation can add to their adornment and security, is but a fitting tribute to the memory of her slain defenders. Let pleasant paths invite the coming and going of reverent visitors and fond mourners. Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or the coming generations, that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided Republic. If other eyes grow dull, and other hands slack, and other hearts cold in the solemn trust, ours shall keep it well as long as the light and warmth of life remains to us."
---General John Logan, General Order No. 11, May 5, 1868

Though Memorial Weekend is the kickoff to summer please take a moment of your time and remember all the people past and present who have sacrificed so much for our country. There are many parades, services and luncheons throughout the park honoring all those that have and continue to keep our country safe. Thank you all.

One thing to start looking for are open air markets, outdoor art exhibits and sidewalk cafes. All those wonderful indicators that summer is just around the corner. It is supposed to be the perfect weather to stop by that ice cream window and enjoy a cone. Here are some scheduled events taking place around the Adirondack Park.
